Once again, another month has come and gone.
It’s hard to believe that Sonny, my stepson, has already been back in school for a month!
Other than my stepson starting school and Ella turning 9 months old, we didn’t have much going on in August. But, as usual, I still had fun using my digital planner as a memory keeper!
When I originally set up my August calendar, I had big plans for a Treat Yo Self Tuesday blog series, which unfortunately I had to cancel after only two weeks, because my days are beautifully unpredictable.
I don’t know how or why, but unfortunately when I originally set up my August calendar, I got so many dates wrong! I had to go back and change several things as the month went on, until I eventually just gave up and abandoned the monthly calendar all together for the month of August… which wasn’t a big deal because I prefer to reference my weekly calendars, anyway.
The first week of August was so much fun! We took a day trip to a drive through zoo, and spent a lot of quality time together as a family. This was Sonny’s last full week of summer vacation, so we tried to make the most of it!
The second week of August was wildly unpredictable. The only thing that was set in stone was Sonny’s first day of fifth grade (which I had originally thought was August 9th), and everything else was up in the air. Ella was in a particularly grumpy mood from teething, and I struggled with productivity… but it was still a great week!
The third week of August was a really productive week! I recorded a lot of Digital Planning tutorials, spent some quality time with Ella, took a day trip to the Apple Store, and had a great visit with my grandparents! The weekend was great, and the trip to the Apple Store was fun, but the rest of the week seemed to drag on — hence the quote “The mondayest week ever.”
The fourth week of August was spent in bed. Ella came down with her very first cold that week, and I caught it as well — so we spent most of the week in bed. And, maybe TMI, but I got my period for the first time in 18 MONTHS (9 months of pregnancy + 9 months postpartum), while I was sick, and it was THE WORST. I laid in bed, curled into a ball, all day on Friday and Saturday. Thank goodness for James, my husband!
The last few days of August were great! I managed to publish 4 blog posts in a week, which almost never happens. I also got to spend a lot of time with my son and daughter. We thought Sonny, my stepson, was coming down with a stomach virus (thank goodness it wasn’t a stomach virus), but just to be safe, we kept him out of school on Thursday and Friday. My husband attended to him, and the younger kids and I spent those days hanging out in our upstairs playroom!
I didn’t use any of my daily pages this month — I just kept one overall to do list for the month (not pictured), and tried to cross off as much as possible for the month of August. However, I did implement the mood tracker from my Etsy shop! This was the first month that I actually made myself consistently fill out a mood tracker, and I loved it! This is definitely something I plan on doing every month from here on out.
And that’s it for the month of August! One of my favorite things about planning is that you don’t have to lead a busy lifestyle in order to plan — because memory planning works just as well! I love flipping through the pages of my planner and remembering our weeks.
